Article on Buckminster Fullers Dome and the cost to construct it.

Buckminster Fuller came up with a fantastic design and patent, when he started on the geodesic dome.

So, what could possibly make it better?

Go one step further with the design idea and give it a new name to express it: Terrific T-Domes. Why T-Domes? I scoured the web, well the first five or so pages anyway, trying to find the triangular shape that we had come up with, I never did find one. I found some that came close, but they weren't it. Everyone that we have shown it to, says " its not a triangle, but it is triangular". So, we just call it T (triangular shape) Dome.  Maybe some math student somewhere has named it, but until we find out, we will call ours T-Domes (and probably even after we find out.) Since, we invented the shape ourselves, the principle and the formula ourselves, we have the right to name it, ITS a T-DOME.

How does the T-Dome go one step further?

By:

1. Removing the FLAT spots, making it a round Dome, to give it even more resistance to wind, rain and storm damage.  No flat spots for rain and snow to puddle up on and leak.   No flat spots for the wind to hammer and loosen roof shingles.

2. Make it affordable for EVERYONE, not just those that have a couple of hundred thousand dollars, to have it built..  Make it so that a man and his buddy can build it. Make it so that the framework and shell can be built for under $5,000.00, for a 30' diameter. Make it a Do-it-Yourself project, that is within the means of any family that needs safe, secure, weather proof housing and is willing to do a little work to get it.

3. Make it fast, simple and cheap to build without compromising the strength of the dome structure.  Use techniques, tools and math formulas that anyone can utilize.  NO rocket scientists, structural engineers, building contractors or other high priced experts needed.

4. Make it so that the person that builds it, decides how big, what will be where and when.  Make it so that the same exact formula and principles can be used to build a small doghouse, a child's playhouse, a tool shed, a garage, a greenhouse, a vacation getaway, a storm shelter, a workshop or a large custom home.  ALL from the same easy to understand principle and formula. Make one simple triangular shape following this formula and principle and repeat it until your dome is done!  If a person can make one, they can make them all.

5. Take Buckminster Fullers design one step further, into a practical, economically accessible structure for everyone, with an added twist NO Flat spots.

6. Add features that make it even more efficient and don't cost an arm and leg to add. That save on water, sewage, fuel, electricity and even help feed the owners!

7. Put it all into an illustrated, easy to understand and follow manual, that anyone that can read a tape measure and draw a circle on the ground can understand and do.

8. If this is such a great thing, why are we selling it so cheap?  Because we have and are the little guys, the ones that can only dream of a better, safer, way of life.  We want to give it away to those kind of people, but if it were FREE, it would not have any worth and you would not have a VESTED INTEREST in building one for yourself.  If it costs you something, you are far more likely to at least read it and see if it will be right for you.  Why don't we just put up a few pictures and stuff so you can see what we are offering.  Because I did that with AVSA, years ago, and the Free Vermicomposting lessons, you guessed it, the rich guys got richer and I got poorer.... they liked my FREE ideas on how they could use them to make money!  Now, I want something, although its very little back,  for all the years of time and expense I've invested in helping other people to live better lives. If my hard work and hours upon hours of time are not worth a few dollars, then I will give up and just keep everything to myself.

Take the next step now, be safe, secure and comfortable the next time a severe storm roars outside.  You can build this entire shell, for what just one conventional roof replacement costs.  Finish the inside as and when you can. Add the extras and save enough to furnish it for FREE.  Take your current utility and food bills. Subtract your water, sewage and waste disposal bills, cut your heating/cooling bill in half or more, cut your electric bill in half and cut your bill for fresh veggies in at least half.  Cut the  cost of roof repairs, termite/rodent control, wood rot and such repairs off, cut the price of home owners insurance by half.  Cut the cost of Your time, doing the repairs off. How much will you save? Cut off the cost of a mortgage, interest, and related costs. NOW, you can afford a large, custom T-Dome home, that you can build yourself, where and when you want.

Do it in simple steps:  Find and buy that acreage, or use the back 40 of moms place!  Dig and put in your foundation, get your rebar, cut the pieces as described, put them together as described, put them up as described, all color coded and simple.  Put in the supports as described (for over 15' diameter), put on the welded wire/expanded metal as described, put on the outer shell as described.  Move in and finish the interior, tell the building department it is a BARN.... with a loft!!!! Not really, but they do have a tendency to interfere with anything a common, hard working person wants to accomplish on his own, without the high priced EXPERTS involved. Check your local building code.
